The summer and autumn are busy seasons for Estonian cuisine. Regional food events showcase local ingredients like herring, flounder, apples, pickles and even dandelions. You can sample cuisine from the best restaurants in Tallinn, Pärnu and Haapsalu while strolling outside in the sunshine. From traditional recipes to modern Baltic fair, come taste the flavours of Estonia this year. Our list of events is by no means final, as new festivals pop up all the time.

Tallinn Coffee Festival 02.09.2022 – 03.09.2022

The beloved and aromatic Tallinn Coffee Festival is happening again!Tallinn Coffee Festival is an event where you can get acquainted with many different and unique varieties of coffee as well as coffee making methods and equipment. The festival offers visitors the chance to enjoy good music, an exciting entertainment program and amazing aromas. In addition to coffee, the festival showcases other warm beverages such as tea and hot cocoa. Street food vendors and cafés are also represented. More than fifty companies present their products at the festival. Professionals, coffee enthusiasts, local roasters, cafés, importers and coffee lovers are all represented at the festival.

Saaremaa Food Festival 08.09.2022 – 18.09.2022
Even though summer will be over by September, Saaremaa still welcomes everyone. Saaremaa Food Festival is an exciting 11-day programme, the motto of which is ‘Proper food makes merry mood!’. There is something for everyone in the programme: Saaremaa Restaurant Week, Cake Concert, Market Day, Visit villages, special dinners, Kuressaare Street Picnic, Appel Cafes Day, Children’s Cafes and more. Come to the islands!

Autumn fair “Maarjalaat” in Tartu 10.09.2022 – 10.09.2022
Maarjalaat is a fair that offers a large variety of Estonian foods and farm goods. There is also a rich selection of products by Estonian artisans and small manufacturers. You can additionally buy plants and gardening products. Maarjalaat includes an entertainment programme for the whole family.

Buffet day on Onion Road 10.09.2022 – 10.09.2022
The tradition of home cafes has become a thing of honour in Estonia in recent years. The Peipus area and Onion Road have also taken up this tradition. In mid-September, the locals will open the doors to their lovely homes and offer the best recipes handed down from generation to generation. This is a day full of joy, good local food and different meetings with old friends and interesting local people.

FoodLover Restaurants Week 16.09.2022 – 25.09.2022
FoodLover Restaurants Week will be held for the tenth time! During the campaign, restaurants all over Estonia offer their best dishes cheaper than usual! – 2-course menu; – 3-course menu; – vegetarian menu.

Black Food Festival in Tallinn 17.09.2022 – 17.09.2022
The Black Food Festival is coming to Estonia for the second time this year! Having set out its stall in Berlin, London and New York in the last 12 months, it’s be coming to the Põhjala factory in Tallinn. The aim is to open the door to culinary creativity and experimentation and to do so under the umbrella of an enjoyable city festival during some of the blackest nights of the year. Taste-wise, there’ll be something for everybody!

Night Bazaar and Lamprey Festival 24.09.2022 – 24.09.2022
Lampreys are a very rare species of fish; however, in Narva-Jõesuu, lampreys have been fished since prehistoric times. During the traditional Lapmrey Festival, a fish market is open for fishermen as well as those who simply love fish. Here you can buy fresh fish as well as various fish products. You can also try different dishes made of lampreys. You can also go out on the river with fishermen to see for yourself how lampreys are caught. The lamprey is a fish with a body like a snake’s and resembling an eel at first glance.
